The Sardinian People are Standing: the Forest of Tuviois

A place is rare and extraordinary, a hidden jewel of the Gerrei, the site of Tuviois it is perhaps the only example in the Area of forest, ancient, relict virgin forest, and undisturbed, not far from the plain urbanized, miraculously escaped the ravages of man. The forests in the mediterranean context and, in particular, in Sardinia for centuries, the subject of deforestation.

The Forest Tuviois graced by the presence of “cussorge” (a judicial figure, similar to the civic uses), exercised the uti singuli” by some families sinnaesi. In fact, the families sinnaesi, in particular, they took care of their piece of land and protect it from any external intervention of man.

The forest of Tuviois also presents a historical mining activity that takes the name “Silver road”. The first mining operations were made in 1867 by entrepreneurs sardinia and Liguria, which mined galena and argentite, there are still visible several extraction wells.
